VOTE-COPE stands for Voice of Teachers for Education (VOTE) and Committee on Political Education (COPE). The VOTE-COPE fund accepts voluntary contributions from union members and supports NYSUT-endorsed candidates, and pro-labor and pro-public education campaign committees. These funds are also used to protect our collective bargaining rights, for HCTA advocacy events, and to support pro-education candidates. NYSUT sends rebates (up to 40 percent) to our union based on VOTE-COPE contributions by our members. Union dues are not used to fund VOTE-COPE efforts and initiatives.

Over the years, VOTE COPE donations helped us win numerous victories including paid leave for cancer screenings and COVID-19 testing, and favorable changes made to our APPR system. Your support is needed to protect these hard-fought victories and prepare for the challenges ahead.

The most powerful corporate interests in history are trying to take away tenure, reduce our pensions, and slash aid to public schools, universities, and healthcare systems. Without VOTE-COPE, educators would lose every battle to the corporate and special interest groups who lobby against teachers and public education. Your donation is needed to lobby and support those legislators who support our interests in Albany. Our VOTE-COPE campaign will begin next month. Your donation is greatly appreciated.
